About Me:

Believe it or not there are sects of Tibetan Buddhism that practice animal rescue as their primary spriritual practice, and I do too.  I didn't know about the Tibetans when I started doing animal rescue, but it makes sense to me.  Animal rescue focuses on and practices the following:
Compassion - there really IS no other reason to save these lives
Non-attachment - one of the toughest lessons in the world is to foster these guys, love them completely, see them through some life threatening situation(s) and then let them go.
Patience - not all rescued animals are easy or fun to handle, but its our job to get them healthy physically, emotionally and psychologically before they go to their forever home.
Love - It is THE best healer, and its the love that brings them back from the brink.
Discipline - At all times, we must consider what is best for the animals.  When finding new homes, I often have to take a lot of heat from people if I have to turn them down, but I gladly do it because the consequences of placing one of these fur guys in a bad home are not worth it.  Also the daily discipline of feeding, cleaning, training never stops.

I could go on and on, but you get the idea.

But wait, there's more!  Yes, I'm an animal rescuer, but I'm also a full time manager of leadership development programs for a huge financial corporation.  Who would have guessed?  I spend my day in the belly of the beast to understand how it works and learn not to be afraid.  Someday (soon?) I hope to start consulting more and being a wage slave less.  But for now, I'm still practicing my craft and gaining credibility, and thats OK.  So much to learn.  Its a good thing.

Not sure what else to write to introduce myself…OH! I grow orchids.  I have a small greenhouse in my yard (its my little fiberglass Hawaii) and I have about 100 different plants that make the MOST amazing flowers.  When I need a mini-vacation, I just walk into my greenhouse and breathe!  Ahhhhhh……

OK, enough for now.  Thanks for reading this far.  We can learn more about each other as we become friends.
